Easy Balloon Flip-Flops Tutorial

A few years ago, while browsing the internet, I saw some awesome balloon flip-flops on a few sites.  Lexie was just 3 at the time, and was already quite the diva, so I knew she would love them!  I was surprised by just how easy they were to make, and Lexie wore them for two summers.

Her beloved pair of balloon flip-flops were looking pretty ratty this year, so I stocked up on some balloons and flip-flops, and began making some more.  We've received so many compliments on them over the years.  They really do look adorable on little girls!

I decided to make a pair for Lily and a few other sweet baby girls that I know.  I'm not exactly Miss. Crafty, and don't have much down time, but I can make these!

All you need is a pair of flip-flops and a bag of water balloons.  Depending on the size of the shoe, you will use up to 250 balloons.

{1}  Decide on the colors of balloons you want to use, and decide on a pattern.  I chose a rainbow pattern, but you could also alternate 2 colors.

{2}  Start at one side of the flip flop and knot the balloon around it twice. (You want it to be double knotted so it stays put!) Pull ends tight to secure.

{3} Continue in a pattern until you reach the other side of the shoe.  Super easy!

Obviously, if you are making these for a child under 4, be careful, because balloons are a choking hazard.  Don't let them sleep in them and put them up when they're not wearing them!  I have a 9 month old and I know just how easy she could bite those balloons off the shoe!

This pair cost me about $3 to make!  Easy and cute!
